The Embloom story starts back in 2010 when Marco Essed was working at a mental healthcare organization in The Netherlands. At that time, he was trying to find a solution for clients who were wrongly placed on the waiting list. He decided to develop an e-health platform that could be used to create greater alignment between the request for care and the range of treatment options at an early stage of the process. During the pilot phase, more than 200 GP practices joined up and thousands of clients were referred using the platform. The project was a success and Embloom was born.
The platform used psychological questionnaires and, at the end of 2011, the Dutch Society of Psychiatry voted the platform the best test platform in the Netherlands thanks to its user-friendliness, functionality and price. Over the years, the platform has expanded to include a wide range of e-health applications.
We opened an office in Germany in 2016, and a few years later, Embloom was chosen to be the e-health partner for one of the largest German innovation projects in the field of e-mental health. In 2017, The Journal of mHealth recognized us as being one of the leading HealthTech Innovators. And the story isn’t over yet, because every day Embloom’s employees are working hard to develop new e-health applications for existing and new users.
